Our body functions on electrical impulses. These messages are then relayed to our brain and we interpret them. We have a very complex nervous system, it controls our bodies and allows for movement, sensory input and our very thoughts. We are a very complex organism. Evolution took a long time to make us how we are today.
While thinking about where our soul resides most people would say the heart. But people can have heart and lung transplants and still be the same person. The soul doesn’t cease to exist when this happens. Your brain receives signals from your body and relays information back. It could cause your heart rate to accelerate and have you breathing erratically. This is what you feel in your chest.
Memories and thoughts all occur in your brain. You think via electrical impulses. Your brain will be firing off information sometimes at a very rapid pace. Other times it seems like your brain is having a hard time – it almost feels like the gears are grinding – or maybe searching for an old memory. When our brain is injured we lose a piece of who we are. Your personality may change, perceptions and memories can be altered or forgotten.
So if thoughts and memories define us, is that where our soul resides? Is this why research shows the brain releasing massive electrical impulses right before death? The white light at the end of the tunnel. Is this burst of electrical energy our soul? Does it then move on? They say energy doesn’t disappear, it only changes form.
Does this then define the “after death” experiences? Would this electrical energy then explain the ‘echos’ that other people hear? How else could they know? Do we change our form and proceed into another plane of existence? Are we energy?
